Efforts to close the gender pay gap risk stalling as countries recover from COVID-19, researchers said on Monday as a global poll showed almost a quarter of men thought the issue was "political correctness gone too far".

As a mini-tantrum raged on bond markets on Feb. 25, the U.S. Treasury auctioned $62 billion in seven-year notes. But investors, it would appear, forgot to show up. The lowest bid-cover ratio of 2.04 on record sent 10-year Treasury yields rocketing to a one-year high above 1.61%.
The Fed signalling it is not perturbed by rising yields has markets fretting again. Scheduled 10-year and 30-year Treasury bond sales on Wednesday and Thursday will be what TD Securities dubs a “litmus test for potential market dysfunction”.
NEW YORK Reuters) - The U.S. dollar hit a 3-1/2-month high against a basket of currencies on Monday on expectations of strong U.S. economic growth and rising inflation, which also sent Treasury yields higher, boosting the greenback's safe-haven appeal.
Strawberry (
Fragaria ananassa) is a popular fruit known for its rich nutrition and sweet taste. In a previous study Zhao
et al. (2018) reported that elevated CO
2 improved strawberry fruit growth, yield and quality. Now, in a follow up paper, Li
et al. (2020) explored the physiological and molecular mechanisms driving such changes. In doing so they examined the growth rate and photosynthetic indices in strawberry leaves under ambient and elevated CO
2, while also performing transcriptome profiling by RNA sequencing on leaves from the two CO
2 treatments in an effort to elucidate gene regulation of photosynthesis in a CO
2-enriched environment.
The work was conducted in the Chinese Solar Greenhouse of Shanxi Agricultural University (China). Plants were grown under normal greenhouse production methods at CO
Turkey To Back Impact Investment: President
Investments contributing to social, environmental benefits are gaining importance in global economy, says Erdogan. Turkey s president on Monday said the country would support impact investments that would be vital towards achieving a sustainable economy.
Speaking at the 11th Bosphorus Summit, Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted the importance of sustainability in investments, adding that a strategy of impact investments would have social and environmental benefits. The inclusiveness and sustainability of investments are as important as the magnitude of investments, he noted. Any investment that doesn t consider social good or create added value for sustainable development is an incomplete investment. Impact investments, which combine sustainability, social entrepreneurship and social responsibility, present important opportunities for humanity, Erdogan said.
